Operating from a 30,000 sq ft facility in Halifax, our team of 30 specialist tradespeople works across state-of-the-art machinery and integrated production disciplines. With a strong order book secured through to 2027, we’re entering a period of significant growth and innovation. We’re now looking to recruit a talented Technical Designer to join our expanding design department and help deliver detailed technical drawings that support the delivery of complex, one-of-a-kind projects. This role has a clear path toward stepping into a senior or management position as the department continues to scale. The Role Reporting to the Technical Design Manager, you’ll work closely with Project Managers, Production, and Procurement to create highly accurate setting out drawings and technical models. You’ll be responsible for: Creating 3D models and 2D setting out drawings for internal manufacture Producing technical drawings for client approvals and subcontractor use Annotating drawings for procurement and internal BOQs Supporting the full technical design scope for assigned projects Maintaining drawing registers and version control Helping to ensure design information is delivered in line with production timelines Essential Experience and Qualifications: Background in technical design, product design, engineering, or furniture design Strong proficiency in SolidWorks (essential), with Swood Design/CAM a bonus Experience designing furniture and interior components in sheet materials (MFC, MDF, ply, plastics) Familiarity with architectural drawings and setting out for production Understanding of fixtures, fittings, ironmongery, and modern joinery construction CAM/CNC awareness Proficient in MS Office and Outlook, with working knowledge of AutoCAD and Adobe Suite Desirable Experience and Qualifications: Metal fabrication knowledge Practical bench joinery or workshop experience Experience with lighting, graphics, or upholstery BSc/MSc in Furniture or Product Design This role suits someone who is: Adaptable – able to interpret evolving specifications and apply feedback quickly Detail-focused – dedicated to delivering accurate, practical drawings Inquisitive – eager to learn, explore new materials, and continuously improve Collaborative – keen to work closely with production teams and receive hands-on feedback Conscientious – aware of the full process from design through to delivery Salary and Benefits: Competitive salary (DOE) Company bonus scheme 28 days annual leave (including bank holidays) 3% matched pension (Defined Contribution) Free on-site parking Clear route to senior/management progression The chance to work on nationally recognised cultural projects with a respected and growing team Apply Now This is a unique opportunity to join a forward-thinking, design-led manufacturer with a strong reputation in the creative and cultural sector.
