Job summary
Our client, an Aerospace and Defence supplier, is looking for a Design Engineer (Aircraft Weight and Balance Engineer) to join on a contract basis at their site in Chester.

Applicants must hold the sole British nationality and be eligible for full SC Clearance.
12-month initial contract.
Based in Chester, with predominantly remote working available.
This role is inside IR35; rates are negotiable.
The work involves using existing data and tools (mainly Excel) to develop a robust aircraft weight and balance tool. This tool will process aircraft role fit data, modification data, and in-service data to provide accurate weight and balance evidence for design assurance, certification, and operational performance.
This role suits an experienced aircraft engineer familiar with weight calculations and procedural creation. The contract entails developing the tool and procedures for ongoing use by other engineers. Attention to detail is crucial.
Responsibilities
* Coordinate with Design Engineers on aircraft design and equipment fits.
* Create aircraft modification weight declarations for certification.
* Develop a tool for accurate, repeatable weight and balance predictions.
* Establish a process for engineers to perform consistent weight and balance assessments.
* Produce operation and maintenance procedures for the tool/process, if needed.
Skills and Experience
* Knowledge of aircraft weight and balance requirements and calculations.
* Recent experience in aircraft systems design, integration, and certification.
* Understanding of aircraft design processes.
* Experience working within multi-disciplinary aerospace teams.
* Knowledge of aircraft systems.
* Familiarity with military and civil aircraft modification and certification regulations.
