Subject Leader of Design & Technology (Food Specialist)

Annual Salary: £32,916 – £51,048 (M1 to UPS3)

CLF Teacher TLR Allowance 2B: £5,873

Contract Type: Permanent

Hours: Full-time, 32.5 hours per week

Working Pattern: Monday to Friday


About the role

You will lead the Design & Technology department with a specialism in Food, shaping the future of Food Technology within a supportive and forward‑thinking school environment. Your key responsibilities include driving curriculum excellence, fostering creativity, and managing a dedicated team to deliver outstanding learning experiences.


About You

* Qualified teacher or holder of an equivalent teaching qualification.
* Experienced in delivering the curriculum in your chosen area, consistently planning and teaching high‑quality lessons across relevant key stages.
* Ability to meet the needs of learners from identified groups, including pupil premium, looked‑after children, SEND and high‑attaining students.
* Strong communicator who embraces change, motivates colleagues and builds positive relationships with students, staff and parents.
* Recognition of and support for opportunities that extend beyond classroom delivery to enrich students’ experience and learning.
* Empowered to develop your own expert practice and support the development of others.
* Highly competent in all elements of the Teachers' Standards with a sustained achievement as an Upper Pay Scale teacher.


About Hanham Woods Academy

Hanham Woods Academy is a secondary school located on the outskirts of Bristol and South Gloucestershire, educating pupils aged 11‑16. It is one of the most improved academies in the South West, serving over 800 students and building a growing reputation locally and regionally.
