The Role
As a Senior Additive Manufacturing Engineer, you will lead high-impact projects, driving the integration of additive manufacturing into advanced materials and devices. Your work will shape solutions that directly support our customers in defence, aerospace and beyond.
Day-to-day, you’ll provide technical leadership, manage project delivery, engage with customers, and mentor junior engineers – helping to grow our additive manufacturing capability.
Your responsibilities will include:
1. Leading technical programmes in additive manufacturing projects
2. Engaging with customers to understand requirements and deliver solutions
3. Providing technical leadership and mentoring to junior engineers
4. Leading the qualification and certification of AM parts
5. Producing proposals, reports and technical documentation to a high standard
6. Supporting business development through bids, proposals and portfolio management
Essential experience of the Senior Additive Manufacturing Engineer:
7. Extensive experience in additive manufacturing, particularly with metal-based technologies
8. Excellent understanding of materials science and its application to AM
9. Proven ability to lead projects, manage budgets and deliver outcomes to time and quality
10. Experience of mechanical testing and validation methods (e.g. tensile, hardness)
11. Expert knowledge of Design for Additive Manufacturing (DfAM) and CAD/CAM
12. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including customer engagement
Essential qualifications for the Senior Additive Manufacturing Engineer:
13. A first degree in Science or Engineering OR equivalent experience (8+ years)
14. A PhD in a relevant field is desirable but not essential

This role is 37 hours per week based at Farnborough. Travel to other QinetiQ and customer sites will be expected.
