An exciting opportunity has arisen for 1 band 6 12 month fixed term contract Sexual Health nurse, to join our friendly, enthusiastic and committed team within the axess Warrington & Halton Sexual Health service, to cover maternity leave.
liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust comprises Aintree University Hospital, Broadgreen Hospital & Royal Liverpool University Hospital and is part of the NHS University Hospitals of Liverpool Group, formed on 1 November 2024 from the coming together of LUHFT and Liverpool Women’s NHS Foundation Trust.
Responsibilities
* Deliver patient care and manage all areas within the department, demonstrating professionalism, clinical expertise and excellent communication skills.
* Conduct consultations for contraception and STI screening.
* Work from PGD to dispense contraceptive and STI treatments, manage STI cases and provide health advice & results management.
* Provide LARC methods including sub‑dermal implant insertion.
* Work across all axess Warrington & Halton sites (e.g. Runcorn, Widnes, Warrington, Orford), travelling on a rotational basis.
* Carry out independent consultations with clients, assessing, monitoring and evaluating individual contraceptive and sexual health needs, including referrals to other health professionals where necessary.
* Issue methods of contraception according to Patient Group Directors & clinical protocols.
* Provide STI screening and treatment in accordance with Patient Group directions & clinical protocols, encouraging partner attendance and treatment when necessary.
* Provide advice and cytology screening as appropriate, according to local policies.
* Take responsibility for the smooth running of day‑to‑day management of the integrated sexual health service.
Working Pattern
The role may include evenings and Saturdays as the service expands.
