Engineering Manager – Coppice

Coppice is a long‑established company specialising in the manufacture and sale of aluminium foil containers. Following the acquisition of Sirane, the company now offers absorbency pads, flexible pouches and cake boards. We are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead the Engineering Department and contribute to business KPIs and strategy.
Responsibilities
* Implementation and management of TPM (Total Preventative Maintenance) requirements and scheduling.
* Improving and enhancing the maintenance function through SMED implementation.
* Coordinate with Production functions to ensure changes and scheduling align with order and safety‑stock requirements.
* Drive productivity, efficiency, environmental impact improvements and cost reductions while maintaining high‑quality standards.
* Lead the improvement and innovation of operations processes to enhance safety, quality, delivery and cost.
* Oversee the leadership, management and development of the Facilities and Engineering teams.
* Support implementation of new systems, processes and infrastructure changes to increase efficiency.
* Plan and implement site maintenance and facilities projects in line with business requirements.
* Mentor colleagues to instil manufacturing principles and best practice.
* Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to resolve Manufacturing Engineering issues.
* Manage resources, labour and overheads to maximize output and control costs.
* Develop own and team members’ skills in line with business needs.
* Measure and manage performance, including absence and individual development.
* Deliver projects and process improvements supporting business objectives.
* Embed a customer‑centric team culture focused on quality, continuous improvement, environmental awareness and safety.
* Ensure plant, equipment and operating environments remain clean, safe and meet required quality standards.
* Ensure compliance with all Health and Safety requirements and policies.
Knowledge
* Proven experience in a senior management role in a fast‑paced engineering environment.
* Change management experience driving performance improvement.
* Facilities management expertise.
* Experience managing teams within a complex, fast‑paced environment.
* Understanding and implementation of TPM, SMED, LEAN and Six Sigma.
* Project management skills.
* Record of engineering improvement through OEE measurements.
* Excellent organisational skills.
* Ability to think and practice LEAN.
* Strong people management and leadership skills.
* Attention to detail and practical problem‑solving.
* Strong facilitation of meetings.
* Solid appreciation of Health and Safety regulations.
