We are currently recruiting for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join a major energy and infrastructure delivery programme on behalf of a leading Tier 1 contractor operating across the UK utilities and infrastructure sector.
This opportunity sits within a long-term National Grid infrastructure programme consisting of five geographically spread sites running from East London through into Hertfordshire. The package for this specific site is valued at approximately £60m and is being delivered under NEC4 Option C.

The successful candidate will join a live delivery environment supporting the commercial management of major civils and infrastructure works associated with a high-profile National Grid programme.
The Role
This is a hands-on, site-based Quantity Surveying position requiring a commercially astute individual capable of operating autonomously within a live NEC project environment.
The role will involve working closely with operational teams, project delivery personnel, subcontractors, and senior commercial stakeholders to ensure effective commercial management throughout the project lifecycle.
Strong NEC experience is essential, particularly around subcontract administration and change management under NEC4 forms of contract. Experience across NEC Options A, C and E would be highly advantageous.
The civils and infrastructure scope forms the core of the project delivery package, while HV elements are being delivered by specialist parties.
Key Responsibilities
Preparation of valuations and applications for payment in accordance with contractual requirements
Supporting internal commercial reporting and project forecasting
Preparation and management of cost reports with fully compliant supporting documentation
Administration and commercial management of subcontractor and supplier accounts
Preparation of detailed subcontract requisitions and procurement schedules
Monitoring, assessment, and authorisation of subcontractor payments
Agreement of subcontractor final accounts
Undertaking contract administration duties, including change management and maintenance of associated registers
Identification and management of commercial risks and opportunities
Supporting value engineering and cost-saving initiatives across the project
Measurement and valuation of works in line with recognised methods of measurement
Assisting with project final accounts and commercial close-out procedures
Supporting procurement activities across subcontract and material packages
Drafting and administration of subcontract agreements, including professional services where required
Ensuring cost allocation and coding aligns with both internal and external reporting requirementsCandidate Requirements
Proven experience operating as a Quantity Surveyor within utilities, infrastructure, civil engineering, or energy sectors
Strong working knowledge of NEC contracts, particularly NEC4 Option C
Experience administering NEC subcontract forms including Options A, C and E
Ability to work independently within a fast-paced project environment
Strong subcontract management and commercial reporting experience
Civils and infrastructure project background is essential
Experience supporting live infrastructure delivery teams
HND / Degree qualified or equivalent commercial experience
RICS / ICES accreditation or working towards chartership would be advantageous
