About the role
We are seeking to appoint a Teaching Fellow in Economics to contribute to our new MSc Business Analytics and to other established teaching programmes within the School of Business. This post is focused on the delivery and management of high-quality teaching across campus-based and distance learning provision, supporting undergraduate and postgraduate students through lectures, seminars, assessment, feedback and academic supervision. The role involves maintaining an up-to-date knowledge of economics scholarship to ensure teaching meets the standards expected within a research-led academic environment, while also contributing to the design, quality and continuous enhancement of modules.
You will work closely with module and programme leaders and will contribute to the wider teaching culture of the School through participation in meetings, committees and professional development activities. The role includes responsibility for setting and marking coursework, responding constructively to student feedback, supporting students pastorally, and making effective use of teaching technologies.
About you
You will hold a PhD in economics or a closely related subject, or be close to completion, and will demonstrate proven competence across core areas of the discipline. You will have a strong commitment to high-quality teaching and the ability to communicate complex ideas clearly and effectively to diverse student audiences. Experience of delivering and designing course materials for campus-based and distance learning will enable you to contribute positively to established programmes, alongside a willingness to review and develop your own teaching practice.
You will bring effective oral and written communication skills, confidence in working independently and collaboratively, and proficiency in using IT and digital learning environments. Holding, or working towards, a recognised teaching qualification will support your application, as will the ability to engage in professional development and contribute to the administrative life of the School. Experience or interest in data analytics and quantitative teaching approaches will be advantageous within the Economics discipline.
