We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our small Point of Care Testing (POCT) team in Scarborough. POCT provides and supports an efficient and high-quality diagnostic service, providing analysers used by healthcare professionals at the point of patient care.
Responsibilities
* Assists with the quality provision of the POCT laboratory service.
* Technical analysis and maintenance of POCT analysers, supporting quality assurance and troubleshooting.
* Follows quality control procedures as set out in the departmental instructions.
* Prepares and distributes samples for external quality assurance to ward/departments.
* Receives and inputs quality control returns accurately and on time, and investigates any missing returns.
* Carries out routine and emergency maintenance and calibration of equipment, both inside and outside the department, and identifies problems associated with equipment used.
* Works to a schedule but amends plans based on arising priorities.
* Communicates clearly and effectively with clinicians, nurses and other service users on technical issues, referring complex enquiries to senior staff as appropriate.
