We now have an exciting opportunity for an Independent Safeguarding Reviewer who will support Cognita.
About the role
To review safeguarding and child protection practice across Cognita sites within the UK and other regions, as outlined in published frameworks and documents.
You will undertake safeguarding reviews and monitoring visits in line with an agreed deployment schedule, review practice against the agreed framework in a professional and consultative manner and escalate risks and/or concerns, providing a written account of all relevant information and evidence.
The Independent Safeguarding Reviewer is expected to:
* support Cognita schools to evaluate and improve their practice against agreed standards for each region;
* be knowledgeable of contextual requirements and relevant Cognita regional policies;
* use evidence to evaluate;
* balance reporting transparently again the published safeguarding evaluation criteria and the distinctive context of the school;
* ask questions in a range of ways to enable schools to provide every opportunity to provide evidence;
* provide clear and evidence-based feedback both in-person and within the written report;
* be open-minded in their approach, including not operating with a UK-centric approach;
* be prepared to challenge and deliver challenging messages; and
* write evaluatively and succinctly so that reports are relevant and useful for school improvement and proprietorial oversight.

Who we are looking for:
To be considered for this role you will have senior leadership experience and currently/previously working in the educational sector. We would also expect;
* An advanced understanding of safeguarding and Safer Recruitment practices within the UK and all corresponding legislation
* An ability to understand cultural differences towards compliance, in a global setting
* Experience in holding individuals to account for compliance with relevant policies and frameworks (for example, through school governance or as a trustee or similar role)
