Overview
The Service Manager (WiFi Technologies) role offers an exciting opportunity to lead and oversee the delivery of critical WiFi authentication services for public sector organizations across the UK government. This permanent, full-time position operates remotely with regular onsite meetings and comes with a competitive salary and flexible working arrangements. As the Service Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring seamless, secure connectivity for millions of users, working with sophisticated network authentication systems, including RADIUS technologies and Cisco infrastructure.
Responsibilities
* Oversee daily operations, performance monitoring, and availability of WiFi authentication services across government and associated organizations, ensuring uninterrupted, secure connectivity.
* Manage incident response and resolution, acting as the primary point of contact for escalations, technical queries, and support requests from administrators, end users, and engineering teams.
* Build and maintain strong relationships with internal teams, service users, and external stakeholders, promoting effective communication and inclusive collaboration.
* Lead regular service reviews, workshops, and user community meetups to promote transparency, share insights, and foster continuous service improvement.
* Champion a user-centric approach by incorporating feedback and service data analytics into the prioritization and refinement of the service backlog, working closely with Product Managers and engineers.
* Stay current with advancements in WiFi, network authentication, and related technologies, bringing innovative ideas to enhance service security, reliability, and user experience.
* Prepare and deliver operational reports, presentations, and briefings for central government bodies, advocating transparency and learning from incident reviews and audits.
* Support governance compliance, risk management, and security standards related to network authentication services.
* Foster a positive team environment that encourages psychological safety, diversity of ideas, and a balance between delivering outcomes and team wellbeing.
Qualifications and Skills
* Strong technical knowledge of WiFi protocols such as 802.1X, WPA2/3, and RADIUS, alongside hands-on experience with large-scale digital services and authentication platforms.
* Excellent communication skills, enabling effective engagement with engineers, senior leaders, end users, and diverse stakeholders.
