Inclusion has an opportunity for a passionate and caring individual to join our team within One Recovery Bucks, a drug and alcohol treatment and support service for people affected by their own or someone else’s use of alcohol or drugs. Inclusion is committed to developing and embedding trauma informed care. One Recovery Bucks is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Principal Psychologist (0.4 WTE) to join our team. As a leading NHS community drug and alcohol treatment service provider, we are committed to delivering exceptional care and support to individuals dealing with substance use issues.

Main duties of the job

* Provide a psychology service to young people and adults accessing community drug and alcohol services, including complex assessments leading to psychological formulations of distress; recommendations for treatment options and evaluation of interventions.
* As a senior clinician with specialist post-qualification training, develop a specific area of psychological knowledge within the Inclusion psychology team, including leading or contributing to training, supervision and governance aspects of the model or approach.
* Supervise and support psychological assessment and therapy provided by other psychologists and clinical team members who deliver psychologically informed care.
* Work autonomously within professional guidelines and be responsible for the systematic governance of psychological practice within the service/team.
* Utilise research and audit skills to guide service development.

Detailed Job Description And Main Responsibilities

* Provide a clinical psychology service to patients with moderate to severe mental health problems, liaising as appropriate with local mental health services.
* Work with clients independently as necessary, or jointly with others depending on risk assessment.
* Provide expert psychological assessment, formulation and therapy to a high standard for a range of mental health problems.
* Implement a range of psychological interventions for individuals and groups, refining formulations using different explanatory models and maintaining provisional hypotheses.
* Liaise with professionals within inpatient and community settings to coordinate psychology services for adults in localities served.
* Provide expertise, advice and support to facilitate effective provision of psychological care by the multidisciplinary team.


Person specification

Qualifications

* Post-graduate doctoral level training in clinical / counselling / forensic psychology (or equivalent prior to 1996) as accredited by the BPS, including psychopathology, clinical psychometrics and neuropsychology, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology.
* Post-doctoral training in one or more additional specialised areas of psychological practice or therapy.
* HCPC registration as a practitioner (clinical/counselling/forensic) psychologist.

Experience

* Substantial experience as a qualified practitioner psychologist at a highly specialist level.
* Experience with a wide variety of client groups across the life course and range of clinical severity, maintaining professionalism in emotive and distressing situations.
* Experience exercising full clinical responsibility for clients’ psychological care within a multidisciplinary care plan.

Desirable criteria

* Prior experience of working in drug & alcohol services.

Knowledge and Skills

* Skill in complex psychological assessment, intervention and management requiring sustained concentration; ability to communicate highly technical and clinically sensitive information to clients, families, carers and professionals.
* Doctoral level knowledge of research design and methodology, including complex multivariate data analysis as practiced in clinical psychology.
