The role
As a Package Manager, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary, contributing to the maintenance the UK’s continuous at sea deterrent (CASD). Playing a pivotal role leading various highly complex packages of work, within a highly regulated environment.
Day-to-day, you’ll report into a Zone Project Manager with responsibility for managing a discrete package of work, and be responsible for time, cost, scope, quality and risk
As the Package Manager on the Mid Zone you will be responsible for a specific package of work which will support the overall delivery of a complex submarine project.
You will be integrated within a project management function, working alongside a number of other project managers, interfacing with Production, Project Controls, Commissioning, MOD and key sub-contractors.
1. Leading on a specific or bound package within the zonal project.
2. Ensuring packages are delivered to a deterministic baseline.
3. Monitoring the budget for their respective work breakdown, ensuring material, labour, plant-hire and sub-contract spends have sufficient contractual coverage.
4. Capturing and collating technical issues throughout the project.
5. Providing all necessary support functions to the production centres to maximise productive effort in achieving the project objectives.
This role is full time, 35 hours per week and is based on-site at Devonport, Devon.
Essential experience of the Package Manager
6. Limited experience in Project Management with an ability to lead a project of limited complexity or assist in managing a complex project.
7. Knowledge/Experience of delivering a package of work on time.
8. Ability to communicate at all levels within a matrix organisation.
9. Demonstrable Safety Leadership.
Desirable Qualifications for the Package Manager
10. Level 4 in Project Management/ Engineering/ Construction.
11. APM Project Fundamentals Qualification.
