Project Engineer Location: Cheltenham, Gloucestershire (hybrid working), with a requirement of 2 days per week at the Cheltenham offices. We are seeking a highly skilled Project Engineer to take technical ownership of the design and proposal of packaged solutions and system designs - from early concept, through detailed design, proposal creation, and project management, all the way to delivery. This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys combining technical expertise with customer engagement, commercial awareness, and cross-functional collaboration to deliver high-quality engineered solutions. Key Responsibilities Technical Leadership: Lead the technical design of packaged solutions and engineered systems from concept to delivery. Provide technical and commercial advice in line with relevant legislation, regulations, and industry standards (including CDM, PER, EN standards, etc.). Maintain up-to-date knowledge of all applicable legislation, ensuring compliance in all customer solutions. Proposal & Specification Development: Conduct pre-qualification assessments considering application complexity, costs, and risks. Create detailed proposals, application-specific technical specifications, and solution designs. Support the bid management and project delivery process, including presenting designs to customers at their sites (with occasional overnight stays). Process & Compliance: Drive full adoption and compliance with the Lead to Order process. Use and maintain business tools such as SharePoint, CRM, CAD drawing software, configurators, and other systems. Ensure commercial integrity, consistency, and continuous improvement across all business streams. Collaboration & Communication: Work closely with internal teams, including Sales, Projects, Operations, and Business Development. Actively contribute to strategic programmes and sales initiatives across the UK & ROI. Engage fully with the Spirax Sarco Academy learning and assessment processes. Uphold Spirax Sarco’s core values. You Experience We’re looking for candidates who can demonstrate: Strong working knowledge of Spirax Sarco products, applications, and systems. Understanding of steam system design standards such as PESR, EN 13480, and related codes. Experience in a customer-facing engineering role. Proven experience managing engineered solution projects from design through delivery. Experience using 2D/3D CAD modelling software. Background in software-based customer and project management systems. Experience in a similar Project Engineering or Solution Design role. Your Qualifications & Skills: Degree in Engineering or equivalent professional experience. Membership of a relevant professional body (IET, IMechE, or equivalent) is highly desirable. Ability to work effectively under pressure while managing multiple tasks. Strong decision-making, communication, and influencing skills.
