Job Title: Quantity Surveyor

We are excited to offer an exceptional opportunity for a motivated and ambitious individual to join our dynamic team as a Quantity Surveyor at a leading Bathroom Pod Company based in London. As a Quantity Surveyor, you will play a vital role in the quantity Surveying team while gaining invaluable experience and knowledge in the construction industry. This position is ideal for a Quantity Surveyor with 3-5 years’ experience, looking to work with a market leader in innovative construction solutions. This role will be fully based in Central London.
The Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for:
- Conduct cost analysis for construction projects and provide accurate estimations.
- Sub-contract and material procurement, ensuring competitive pricing and adherence to quality standards
- Collaborate with the project team to monitor project progress, identifying and resolving any cost-related issues.
- Prepare valuation of variations and claims and present to client.
- Prepare applications for payments for relevant projects.
- Conduct regular site visits to assess progress and ensure compliance with contractual specifications.
- Maintain accurate project records and documentation.
- Stay updated on industry standards, regulations, and best practices.
- Commercial management of sub-contractor accounts from commencement on site to negotiation and agreement of final accounts
- Prepare tenders and contract documents, including bills of quantities
- Preparation of monthly cost value reconciliation reports
- Preparation of monthly cost and value to complete forecasts in conjunction with the Site Manager
- Conduct cost and risk management
- Support the Project Manager/Planner to evaluate time and cost impacts of changes/delays
- Proactive approach to the environment and customer care of all the stakeholders involved in a project
- Good negotiating, influencing and communication skills to command professional respect at all levels.
- Provide site management with commercial and contractual support and advice
- Prepare details required for cost calculation.
- Recognize opportunities of arising to issue/prepare claims and variations
- Understand the site critical path and extension of time process claims process
- Create site efficiencies
The Successful Applicant:
The desirable Quantity Surveyor should hold the following skill set:
- Experience with a fit-out subcontractor as well as, working/liaising with Tier 1 Contractors is optimal.
- Experience of working on projects from a pre-construction commercial point of view to completion and handover of the build
- Highly motivated
- Basic understanding of contract performance measurement, risk management and change and claim management.
- Experience of working as part of a team within a commercial environment.
- Be able to assess, review and mitigate commercial and contractual risk
- Identified opportunities and acted up situations to maximise cost management/value engineering
- Ability to work in a commercial and pressurised background
- Technical knowledge of site techniques
- Excellent IT skills
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
- Excellent social skills to entertain clients and develop relationships
