<div><h3>Job Overview</h3><p>To provide a full general and specialised vascular service, including elective and emergency surgery for the vascular network across Surrey, NE Hampshire and E Berkshire.</p><p>The post holder will provide a general, broad base of vascular and endo-vascular service. He/she will be an active member of the local and network MDTs and will work at any of the spoke hospitals when required, receiving honorary contracts.</p><h3>Main duties of the job</h3><p>This position includes mentoring and out-of-hours cover, facilitated by two senior clinicians; the post holder will adjust job plans to accommodate this on-call requirement.</p><h3>Qualifications</h3><p>Essential criteria:</p><ul><li>FRCS or equivalent registration</li><li>Full GMC registration</li><li>Possession of CCT (or equivalent) within six months of receipt at the date of interview</li><li>Entry on Specialist register</li></ul><p>Desirable criteria:</p><ul><li>Evidence of research activity or higher degree</li></ul><h3>Experience</h3><p>Essential criteria:</p><ul><li>Understanding of the principles of clinical governance and demonstrated experience of evidence-based practice</li><li>A wide grounding during training in all aspects of emergency and elective surgery within the speciality of vascular surgery</li><li>Experience teaching clinical skills to undergraduates and postgraduates, and operative skills to trainee specialists</li></ul><h3>Skills & Knowledge</h3><p>Essential criteria:</p><ul><li>Able to evaluate own clinical practice</li><li>Able to demonstrate innovative thinking</li><li>Good written and oral communication skills</li><li>Ability to organise and develop service provision, computer literate – confident in using MS Office, Email and Internet</li></ul><p>Desirable criteria:</p><ul><li>Computer literate – confident in using MS Office, Email and Internet</li></ul></div>
