Neonatal Home Care Team
Band 6 – Neonatal Deputy Home Care Sister/Deputy Home Care Charge Nurse
There is an exciting opportunity to join the Neonatal Home Care Team. The successful applicants will be employed by Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust (NUH), with their main base at Nottingham University Hospitals, providing cross campus cover with Kings Mill Hospital. We are seeking dynamic, enthusiastic, motivated and experienced children’s or neonatal nurses, or midwives with Neonatal experience, to be part of our homecare team. The postholder will help to provide a comprehensive service by supporting a 7 day working week for home care and contributing to the new home phototherapy service. Being a part of the Neonatal home care service at NUH means you will also work within the north hub region of the EMNODN, allowing networking across the north hub, access to training and support, and knowledge in other neonatal services within the network. This may involve travel across the region.
These posts are specialist nursing roles. You will touch the hearts of families, building relationships and providing emotional support, helping families through their experience. You will see the families’ confidence grow and empower them to care for their baby from admission to discharge, toward the journey home. It is a unique experience to continue returning decision making of the baby’s care to the family, with your support.
Responsibilities
* Promote safe, early discharge of babies from neonatal units, transitional care and paediatrics.
* Provide ongoing care in the home environment, including nasogastric tube feeding at home and management of oxygen.
* Provide ongoing care for surgical babies and jaundice management requiring phototherapy at home.
* Support families by liaising with the multidisciplinary team and delivering high quality care in the home setting.
* Contribute to 7 day working week coverage for home care and participate in the new home phototherapy service.
* Travel across the region as part of the Home Care team, with base at NUH and cross-campus coverage to Kings Mill Hospital.
Qualifications and Experience
* Current experience of caring for neonates in a hospital or community environment.
* Background as a children’s or neonatal nurse, or midwife with neonatal experience.
* Ability to liaise with other members of the multidisciplinary team and support parents in providing high quality care in the home environment.
* Part-time working will be considered.
* Regular clinical shifts on the Neonatal unit at SFH or NUH, equivalent to 10% of weekly hours.
* Home care service hours are 08:00 – 19:00, potentially on a 10.5 hour shift or split shift basis.
