An opportunity has arisen with the service for a Band 6 Senior Community Learning Disability Nurse post to work within the Specialist Community Learning Disabilities Team based in Barrow and covering South Cumbria and Lancaster and Morecambe. The post requires the ability to travel independently of public transport. We are looking for a highly motivated and conscientious team player with excellent communication and clinical skills, seeking to build experience in working with community teams.

In addition to working with adults with learning disabilities and autism, we work closely with their families and are committed to health promotion through service development and training initiatives. We are committed to helping our staff develop and you will be part of an enthusiastic and experienced team.
Responsibilities
The post holder will work within an integrated health team, providing clinical support to adults with learning disabilities who have additional complex needs, which may include challenging behaviour, physical and sensory impairment, mental health and forensic issues. The post holder will play an integral role in delivery of care within these pathways within a variety of community settings.
As a Band 6 Senior Community Nurse you will be expected to support the clinical activity of the teams in meeting the needs of local people with learning disabilities in the community. You will have skills in working with adults with learning disabilities and associated communication and behavioural needs. The post holder will undertake delegated duties by senior nurses, and will be accountable to the operational/clinical leads, and will be providing administrative support within the integrated health team to ensure effective and timely clinical outcomes are met.
It is expected you will be able to use IT clinical record systems.
You will be required to travel within LSCFT.
Requirements
Qualifications
* Part 5 or 14 of NMC register
* 2-3 years' experience as registered nurse or equivalent
Knowledge
* Ability to support people who have a learning disability/complex needs on an individual and group basis
* Knowledge of Autism Spectrum Disorder and how to undertake assessment and support children and young people with ASD
* Knowledge of relevant contemporary health policy
Experience
* Experience of working in a community setting
* Experience of working with children and young people who have learning disabilities and/or autism
