Special Educational Needs Support / Teaching Assistant
Do you want to make a genuine impact while gaining hands-on experience that can pave the way toward educational psychology, education, social care or other people-focused professions? At Teaching Personnel, we're looking for passionate, empathetic Teching Assistants to join our Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) support team. We currently have multiple full-time placements available across Salford, Bolton, and Bury, working in schools that support children with additional needs outside of mainstream education.
What You'll Be Doing
This isn't your average school job. As part of our SEND team, you'll be working in alternative educational settings, including:
Specialist SEND Schools - Supporting students with autism (ASD), profound learning difficulties (PMLD), and a range of additional needs in tailored, nurturing environments.
Pupil Referral Units (PRUs) - Working with students who have been excluded from mainstream education, focusing on engagement and behaviour support.
Alternative Provisions - Helping young people who benefit from smaller classes and a more personalised learning approach.
In these unique settings, your role will involve:
One-to-one or small group support to help students manage learning and behavioural challenges.
Helping build confidence and life skills, supporting students' independence and emotional wellbeing.
Collaborating with teachers and specialists to create Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and track progress.
Learning by doing - gaining valuable experience that brings your psychology studies to life.
Kickstart your career - This is ideal for anyone considering an educational psychology, child development, mental health, or social work future.
Real-world experience - Get practical exposure to behaviour support strategies, SEN interventions, and multi-agency collaboration.
Tailored guidance - You'll be supported by a dedicated personal consultant who understands your goals and helps you succeed.
Professional growth - Every day is a new learning opportunity, and the experience you gain will stand out on any future application or training programme.
