Job Brief
As an Activities Coordinator at Discovery Care, you will work closely with the home manager/deputy manager to organise social and person-centred activities that meet the needs and requests of our residents, ensuring they receive exceptional care and support.
Responsibilities
* Coordinate with Care Staff to plan beneficial activities such as light exercise, arts & crafts, puzzles, knitting, sing-a-longs, days out, seasonal events, and more.
* Organise special cultural activities aligned with religious calendars, e.g., Hanukkah, Diwali, Christmas, Easter.
* Consider residents' preferences to ensure they enjoy the activities offered.
* Organise social activities and diversional therapy within the home, incorporating new residents into activity programmes.
* Coordinate activities related to residents' birthdays, anniversaries, and community visits outside the home, including arranging transportation.
* Plan activities according to set timetables, ensuring participation from all residents and effective communication of schedules to residents and staff.
* Include at least one group activity and one-on-one sessions daily.
* Provide specialist media for residents with specific needs, such as news tapes, large-letter books, and Braille.
* Communicate and liaise with residents' relatives and friends as needed.
* Assist care staff during mealtimes to promote protected mealtimes.
* Ensure activities are documented on care plans and records, including participation details.
About You
You should have an empathetic, warm personality and genuine enthusiasm to inspire residents to participate. The role requires travel to Margate, where the care home is located.
