Vacancy description:
This role will be varied and will include all aspects of working with groups of dogs in a busy Dog Daycare Centre.
You job role will include the following tasks:
* Walking and exercising the dogs in all weathers.
* Shampooing/washing the dogs after each walk.
* Ensuring any dog waste is picked up along the route immediately.
* Being vigilant in supervising their care & well-being at all times.
* General cleaning duties of the working environment.
* To provide cover in the dog daycare centre when needed.
Your duties will include the cleaning and sanitation of any of the dog equipment, including bowls, apparatus, towels and vehicles.
Requirements and desired skills:
* Confident in handling and controlling dogs off lead on a group dog walk.
* Motivated with a positive attitude to work.
* Team player, with good communication skills.
* Honest, reliable, trustworthy and well presented.
* Able to walk and control several strong dogs on lead.
* Willing to listen and learn and follow instructions.
* Some experience in walking large dogs/groups would be beneficial.
Reality check
* You'll be picking up dog mess while walking your group of dogs
* You'll be walking a lot in bad weather, as well as good weather
* It can be physically tiring, so you'll need to be fit and able to walk miles
* After walking dogs, they need to then be wash before going home
* We are outside in all weathers, so you'll get wet and muddy
Working week: Tuesday and Thursday mornings 8.30am to 12.00pm = 7 hours per week:
Salary: You will be paid the appropriate rate for your experience and age.
Trial period: Part of the interview process includes applicants completing a trial/taster morning working with the dogs before being selected for the job.
Eligibility: Better if you have experience of walking several dogs, but not a necessity.
