Main duties of the job
* Patient Navigation: To assist patients in navigating the healthcare system by directing them to the appropriate services and resources, both within and outside the practice.
* Appointment Management: Schedule and manage patient appointments efficiently, ensuring optimal use of practice resources.
* Communication: Serve as the first point of contact for patients, providing a warm and welcoming environment both in person and over the phone.
* Administrative Support: Perform general administrative duties, including managing patient records, registering new patients, and maintaining the reception area.
* Collaboration: Work closely with healthcare professionals within the practice to ensure a seamless patient journey.

Thorne Moor Medical Practice is a two-site practice situated in Thorne, northeast of Doncaster. Easily accessible via the M18 and M180, with purpose-built sites, we serve over 9,500 patients in the Thorne and Moorends area.
As a three GP partner practice supported by a multidisciplinary team including a salaried GP, ANPs, Nurses, HCAs, a pharmacist, and experienced administrative staff, totaling 35 people, we are a friendly team looking for someone to join us and help shape the future of this expanding practice.

Job responsibilities
Job Summary: The main purpose of the Receptionist/Care Navigator is to provide a point of contact for patients and act as a communication link between patients, doctors, and staff. Duties include ensuring efficient and effective administrative work of the practice.
The reception desk is the first point of contact for patients in person or by phone, so courtesy and politeness are essential. Confidentiality must always be maintained.
Flexibility in working patterns is important to cover colleagues during leave or sickness.
Main duties and responsibilities
* Receiving patients and visitors at the reception desk.
* Navigating patients to appropriate services and documenting on the correct template.
* Logging patient arrivals accurately.
* Using the appointment system.
* Handling incoming calls, logging, and acting on them.
* Explaining practice arrangements to new patients and those seeking temporary treatment, ensuring paperwork is completed and passed to administration.
* Processing payments and issuing receipts.
* Managing repeat prescription requests electronically and manually.
* Recording requests for home visits.
* Ensuring timely task management.
* Directing patients within the building.
* Processing requests for repeat prescriptions.
* Making the surgery as patient-friendly as possible.
* Updating waiting room notices as needed.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* At least 1 year of experience in a similar environment.
* Experience as a GP Receptionist.
