Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site Event Manager role based in Leith. The Event Manager will oversee the planning, coordination, and delivery of events, including private functions, corporate bookings, exhibitions, and community activities. Responsibilities include managing event inquiries, conducting site visits, preparing proposals, and coordinating logistics such as schedules, room layouts, supplier arrangements, and technical requirements. The role will involve close collaboration with clients, internal teams, and external vendors to ensure events run smoothly and align with The Biscuit Factory’s creative identity. The Event Manager will also support budgeting, forecasting, and reporting, contribute to event marketing and promotion, and ensure all activities comply with health and safety, licensing, and venue policies.
Qualifications
* Demonstrated experience in event management, venue coordination, or hospitality operations, ideally within arts, culture, or creative industries.
* Strong client-facing skills, including relationship management, negotiation, and the ability to understand and translate client needs into detailed event plans.
* Excellent organizational and planning skills, with the ability to manage multiple events, timelines, and stakeholders simultaneously.
* Proficiency with event management tools, spreadsheets, and email/calendar software; familiarity with basic AV/technical requirements for events is an advantage.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare clear proposals, briefs, and post-event reports.
* Knowledge of health and safety standards, risk assessments, and licensing requirements relevant to events and public spaces.
* Proactive, solution-focused approach with the ability to remain calm under pressure and make sound decisions on site.
* Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required by the events schedule.
* Experience collaborating with artists, designers, and creative practitioners is beneficial; understanding of the local Edinburgh/Leith creative scene is a plus.
* Relevant qualification or comparable experience in events, hospitality, arts management, or a related field.
