JCA is seeking a Contracts Manager to join the Project Engineering division, based around Cheltenham, with travel required to sites in Manchester and Gloucester.
Job Overview
1. Take full financial and delivery responsibility for a portfolio of contracts, ensuring that JCA cost-effectively delivers contracted services and additional services within legislative and contractual obligations.
2. Manage all activities necessary to achieve success at all contract lifecycle phases, including lead generation, opportunity management, enquiry to quote process, pre-contract, post-contract, and defect and liability periods.
3. Deliver projects in accordance with contracted requirements and ensure correct contract administration within the relevant legal framework.
4. Manage resources, supply chain, plant, materials, and logistics necessary for successful contract completion.
5. Carry out financial forecasting and reporting on costs, sales, gross profit, and risks for all assigned projects.
6. Ensure statutory obligations are met and that the business is not exposed to undue risks.
7. Maintain up-to-date records, data, and systems according to standards, policies, and procedures.
8. Maintain excellent client relationships, develop opportunities for additional revenue and margin, and ensure contract retention.
9. Collaborate with stakeholders to identify opportunities aligned with business strategy.
Main Duties
1. Manage an assigned portfolio of contracts, ensuring delivery meets contractual obligations and is cost-effective.
2. Achieve a minimum gross margin as specified by the company's KPIs.
3. Implement a self-auditing regime using available systems and processes to validate contract compliance.
4. Identify and generate additional work opportunities within the portfolio to meet set objectives.
5. Ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of additional work opportunities.
6. Deploy company-wide processes and procedures to deliver contracted and additional services effectively.
7. Close out additional work opportunities financially in the month of completion.
8. Manage contract works according to the contract execution plan, updating it throughout the contract lifecycle.
9. Generate pre-contract and contract-specific deliverables per the execution plan.
10. Manage delivery teams and allocate resources efficiently across contracts.
11. Manage supply chain and sub-contractor performance aligning with KPIs.
12. Identify change requirements and expedite opportunities to maximize revenue and mitigate risks.
13. Report on contract performance following company KPI protocols.
14. Oversee financial applications, job costing, and forecasting updates for contracts.
15. Manage the closure of defects and liability periods, including release of retention accounts.
16. Coordinate with internal departments to administer supply chain contracts from enquiry to completion and close-out.
Qualifications and Experience
Candidates must hold qualifications in one of the following:
* Construction and/or Engineering Qualification (ONC, HND, or Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Building Services, or Construction)
* Knowledge of Mechanical works (e.g., Chillers, Pipework, AHUs)
* Technical Qualification
* CSCS card relevant to the role
* First aid at work certification
* Proven project delivery experience in a similar size and sector
* Leadership and management skills aligned with JCA's brand
* Excellent analytical skills and experience with Document Management Systems, SharePoint, Dynamics CRM, Asta Powerproject, Excel, Anaplan or similar tools
* Experience working in an SME with broad business understanding
* Knowledge of statutory requirements and processes in construction and engineering
* Driving license holder
* Ability to obtain SC/DV clearance
