Contract & job type: Fixed Term, Full-time until 30 June 2027 Grade 6: £35,681 - £39,424 About us: At the Department of Physiology Anatomy & Genetics (DPAG) we undertake discovery science where we reassemble physiological processes at the molecular, cellular, tissue and systems level of organisation. In so doing we provide a bridge to translational medicine, and interface between physical and life sciences. We are committed not only to innovative research and the highest standard of teaching, but also to creating an inclusive and supportive working environment. Overview of the role: The successful applicant will use molecular biology and Drosophila genetics to study the genetic basis of sexual behaviour. They will mainly assist member of the laboratory by carrying our standard DNA manipulations as well as aiding with routine fly work. They will also be responsible for maintenance of the laboratory’s collection of Drosophila stocks and for supporting the day-to-day running of the laboratory. Depending on prior experience and interests, the post holder may also contribute to bioinformatic and data-analysis projects within the lab. The post holder will need to have excellent organizational and research skills, a proven ability to work well with others and a positive attitude to learning and troubleshooting new methods. The successful candidate must have a demonstrable academic interest in the biological sciences. While experience working with Drosophila would be an advantage, training will be provided as required.
