Walker Cole International is supporting the pharmaceutical sector by seeking a Plant Breeding Manager to lead and develop its specialized breeding program. This role offers a unique opportunity to innovate at the intersection of plant science and pharmaceutical development, focusing on enhancing medicinal plant varieties.
Key Responsibilities:
* Design and implement plant breeding strategies targeting traits such as alkaloid content, yield, and disease resistance.
* Develop and maintain plant clones, including ongoing clone strategy, viability assessments, and management.
* Manage field and greenhouse trials to evaluate breeding line performance.
* Utilize classical and molecular breeding techniques, including marker-assisted selection and tissue culture.
* Ensure compliance with pharmaceutical quality standards and regulatory documentation requirements.
* Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in R&D and regulatory affairs.
* Communicate results and strategic updates to stakeholders and external bodies.
About You:
* MSc or PhD in Plant Breeding, Genetics, Agronomy, or related field.
* At least 5 years of practical plant breeding experience, including a minimum of 2 years in a leadership role.
* Strong understanding of medicinal plant species and phytochemistry.
* Knowledge of GMP, GACP, and international pharmaceutical and agricultural regulations.
* Proficiency in data analysis, project management, and cross-functional collaboration.
* Experience with medicinal crops.
* Background in the pharmaceutical or biotech industry.
* Familiarity with EMA, FDA, or WHO frameworks for botanical ingredients.
