Job Description
The roleWith support from senior colleagues, initial duties and responsibilities will include:
1. Site supervision of ground investigations and other fieldwork
2. Scheduling and management of laboratory testing following ground investigation
3. Installation of geotechnical instrumentation and monitoring of readings
4. Assisting with the planning and procurement of ground investigations
5. Geotechnical analysis including limit equilibrium analysis
6. Factual reporting
7. Health & Safety Risk Assessment and Planning
Given the diverse nature of our business, the successful candidate will be given the opportunity to gain a wide range of experience and work across multiple geoscience disciplines. Whilst some projects will be based in the local area, the role may also involve supervision of projects in other locations throughout the UK and overseas for periods of up to 3 months at a time.
About you
We are looking for someone with experience in a similar role, who is keen to develop their career in an inclusive and developmentally-focussed organisation.
* Geology, Geological Hazards, Geotechnical Engineering or related geology-based discipline, or relevant MSc
* Good understanding of the principles of Geotechnical Engineering and current UK ground investigation techniques, specifications and standards (BS5930:2015 / Eurocode 7)
* Graduate level membership of a relevant professional body (or eligibility for)
* Relevant work experience is not essential, but any demonstrable experience in Earth Sciences or Geotechnical Engineering as part of a sandwich year or post-graduation would be an advantage
Please note that, due to site travel requirements, a full driving licence is essential for this role.
