Job Description:

About the Role:

Although HALO is over 30 years old, it had until recently a relatively small philanthropy programme. This has changed over the past five years with global income from philanthropic donors (including those in the US) increasing significantly, reaching £44 million in 2023/24, with UK philanthropic income also growing. The recent increase has been driven by exceptional US donor support for Ukraine.

Growth has been driven by partnerships with philanthropists, corporates, and foundations, supported by our network of trustees and ambassadors, overseen by our global philanthropy team.

The Global Philanthropy Team consists of 12 professionals, mainly based in the UK, working to secure new support and steward donors across the UK, Europe, and international markets including the Middle East. They collaborate with US colleagues responsible for US philanthropy strategy.

Following recent successes, HALO plans to further invest in philanthropic funding to diversify income sources and increase flexibility amid declining government funding. This includes developing mass-market individual giving and expanding major gifts fundraising through new roles.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced fundraiser to join our high-performing team and contribute to our next phase of growth.

Job Responsibilities:

* Lead growth within a portfolio of high-value (six and seven figure) relationships with trusts and foundations, ensuring excellent supporter stewardship.
* Develop relationships with prospective partners to secure new and increased support for HALO’s mission.
* Engage and inspire individuals linked to key relationships, working with senior staff, advocates, and trustees.
* Collaborate with international programme teams to develop high-quality proposals and reports within tight deadlines.
* Contribute to departmental strategic priorities, including managing major relationships, pursuing new opportunities, and developing philanthropic products. Deputise for the Global Head of Grant Partnerships as needed.
* Manage donor records and correspondence in Salesforce.
* Work closely with colleagues in the UK, US, Europe, Middle East, and overseas programs to support global fundraising efforts.

Requirements:

* At least three years' experience leading successful relationships with high-value philanthropic donors, including trusts and foundations at six or seven figures.
* Experience building effective relationships with advocates linked to donors.
* Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build relationships across diverse cultural environments.
* Outstanding writing skills, capable of working with programme and finance teams to prepare proposals, reports, and evaluations.
* Confidence working with financial data, including project budgets.
* Strong attention to detail in both written and verbal communication.
* Exceptional interpersonal skills demonstrating tact, sophistication, and gravitas.
* Experience using fundraising databases to enhance relationship development.
* A commitment to HALO’s mission and objectives.
* Strong intellectual curiosity and ability to articulate HALO’s programmes compellingly.
* Tenacity, self-motivation, and adaptability in a fluid, entrepreneurial environment.
* Collaborative team player with self-awareness and humility.

Benefits:

* 25 days annual leave plus 8 bank holidays.
* Private medical insurance.
* Non-contributory life insurance.
* Pension contributions matched up to 5%.
* Overseas travel medical insurance.
* Flexible working policy.
* Cycle to work scheme.

Location and Working Pattern:

* Flexible: based at HALO’s offices in Wilton near Salisbury or London, with weekly office attendance and monthly team meetings.
* Full-time, 40-hour week, with early finish on Fridays.
* Open to flexible working arrangements to meet role and strategic needs.

Note: If you are not a passport holder of the country where the vacancy is based, you may need a work permit. More information is available on our Blog.
