This is a rare opportunity to join at the very beginning and help shape how a modern public authority operates.Reporting to the Finance Manager, we are looking for a skilled and motivated Accounting Technician to play a key role in delivering high-quality financial support while contributing to new systems and processes.About the RoleAs an Accounting Technician, you will provide technical financial support across a wide range of accounting functions. This is a varied and hands-on role, perfect for someone who enjoys working across multiple areas of finance and thrives in a developing environment.You’ll play a crucial part in ensuring financial data is accurate, compliant, and delivered on time, while also helping build the systems and processes that will underpin our future success. Key Responsibilities Process journals, accruals, prepayments, and reconciliations accurately and efficiently Manage payroll journals and reconcile PAYE, national insurance, and pension accounts Support accounts payable and receivable processes, including invoices and queries Assist with the development and improvement of financial systems and processes Provide guidance to colleagues on financial procedures and systems Maintain strong financial controls and ensure compliance with audit requirements Identify opportunities to improve processes and contribute to continuous improvement Essential Skills & Experience Recognised accounting qualification (ideally AAT, or equivalent experience) Experience delivering core accounting tasks (e.g. reconciliations, journals, reporting, year-end) Good understanding of financial controls, audit requirements, and compliance Strong Excel skills (e.g. VLOOKUP, pivot tables, formulas) Ability to manage deadlines and prioritise workload effectively Excellent analytical and numerical skills Experience working with financial systems (QuickBooks experience advantageous) Why Join?
