Job Overview
As a Network Field Engineer, you will provide responsive and proactive technical support from L1 to L3 across Southern Water sites in the Portsmouth and Southampton areas. You will be maintaining, supporting and monitoring equipment across the Southern Water infrastructure.
You will have experience of working as a field based network engineer with the ability to resolve both analogue and IP technology and comfortable with remote triage.
Responsibilities will include:
Key responsibilities include:
1. Carry out troubleshooting on FTTP, WAN/LAN and Starlink.
2. Liaise with, and facilitate Site Access for multiple 3rd Party Contractors, also ensure visitors to site comply with SW H&S procedures.
3. Provide technical and remote support up to 2nd line to the Network Operations team by performing fault identification, diagnostics and correction on reported faults and technical support requests.
4. Installing and commissioning network routers and switches in Southern Water sites and monitoring stations
5. Carry out routine operations and maintenance of site equipment to company guidelines.
6. Provide and maintain Site Communications documentation. Keep details of Communications for each site up to date and make sure that data is available to relevant parts of the business Defining and implementing IT quality assurance practices and procedures.
7. Travel to sites within Isle of Wight, Southampton and Portsmouth areas and occasionally further afield when required
8. Triage on operational 4G routers remotely as required
9. Liaise with office based staff on 3rd line support requests, assisting to speed up resolution where required
About You:
10. Demonstrates fundamental basic knowledge and understanding in, WAN /LAN, FTTP and ideally Starlink technology and/or networking equipment.
11. Employs a structured approach to questioning and adopts a logical troubleshooting methodology.
12. Health and Safety awareness.
13. General knowledge of IT hardware and peripherals.
14. Experience within a field operations environment of a mobile or telecommunications network provider would be highly desirable
15. Ability to manage time effectively to attend appointments in a timely manner
16. A team player who is able to be flexible in your approach to work and tasks
Package
This role will be full time Monday to Friday working between site and home. We are offering a salary of up to £40,000 per annum depending on skills and experience as well as other benefits including:
