The Opportunity
A vacancy has arisen for a Customs & Compliance Administrator in Middlesbrough, UK, on a permanent basis.
1. Ownership of all of export trade & compliance activities across EMEA and internationally
2. Define and adhere to import requirements across EU Border Control Posts (BCP)
3. Delegate weekly Veterinary requirements across 2 UK warehouses, including close cooperation with 3PLs, customs brokers and transport carriers
4. Maintain database of all POAO ingredients and the relevant approved establishments, treatment type, origin of all ingredients is defined
5. Identify POAO/composite status of FGs and determine Export Health Certificate (EHC) requirements
6. Monitoring & monthly reconciliation of EU duty/VAT and providing back-up documentation to Group Tax / Finance
7. Oversee technical data provided to veterinary inspectors for all POAO export consignments to ensure accurate completion of EHCs
8. Complete customs declarations in CDS for product exports (permanent and Inward Processing)
9. Audit customs declarations produced by clearing agents
10. Working closely with EU Customs agents to ensure that all imports are correctly classified for import duty & VAT
11. Establish and maintain effective relationships with local authorities and representatives in all relevant territories to ensure successful importation and smooth supply of product
12. Submission of COO and EUR1 for export orders via Chamber of Commerce
13. Support customer specific requests for information relating to customs / classification / origin related queries
14. Provide annual leave cover for raw material and finished goods imports, completing customs declarations in CDS
15. Purchase order management and validation of invoice submissions via Ariba
The Skills you will bring to the team
16. Minimum of 2 years’ experience in an Export/Import or Customs compliance role
17. Knowledge of UK and/or EU import/ export processes & procedures, and Rules of Origin
18. Understanding of customs tariff
19. Strong understanding of Incoterms
20. Knowledge of special customs procedures, i.e. Inward Processing
21. Excellent verbal and written communication skills
22. Strong IT proficiencies (specifically Excel and SAP)
23. Financial acumen (transport budgets and spend)
24. Ability to deal at all levels both internally and externally.
