Overview

Responsibilities
* Provide specialist support to adult patients/service users, including support with alternative and augmentative communication aids.
* Ensure well‑coordinated, integrated care plans for individual patients/service users.
* Participate fully in multidisciplinary teams drawing on specialist knowledge and experience.
* Contribute to service and policy development.
* Advise line manager on service delivery, pressures and developments with regard to future needs and anticipated developments.
* Supervise and delegate work and provide clinical support to a Speech and Language Therapy Assistant, Junior Speech and Language therapists and generic Rehabilitation Assistants.
* Represent speech and language therapy at relevant meetings as and when required.
* Attend and contribute to departmental team meetings and AHP network meetings.
* Knowledge of AAC systems would be beneficial.
Qualifications and Experience
Must be able to work both independently and as part of a wider team. The post will involve working in a variety of settings including patients’ own homes, care homes, inpatient wards and outpatient clinic. Candidates must be competent in the assessment and management of dysphagia or be working towards completion of a recognised post‑graduate qualification or competency.
