*Job Title: *Nursery Room Manager*Reports to: *Nursery Manager & Deputy Nursery Managers*Welcome Incentives** £750 welcome bonus upon successful completion of probation* £250 refer a friend bonus upon successful completion of probation*Key Responsibilities**Leadership and Management** To assist in leading and managing the staff team including delegation and motivation.* To manage resources, organise routines and systems, and ensure effective communication with senior management team.* To develop SMART action plans and ensure self and team perform appropriately to complete actions.* To be an appropriate role model to your team.* To be a Key Person where appropriate and ensure all other Key Persons are performing appropriately.*Safeguarding*All staff have a duty to safeguard children.* To have a sound understanding of the Safeguarding and Welfare requirements.* To be alert to any issues or concern with regards to the welfare of a child.* To report any concerns to the Designated Safeguarding Lead for the Nursery immediately.* To attend safeguarding training and keep up to date with changes to Nursery Policy.* To fully understand the Whistleblowing Policy and report any concerns about staff immediately to the Designated Safeguarding Lead*Sustainability** To have active involvement in energy conservation, recycling and reducing our carbon footprint.*Health and Safety** To provide a safe environment – complete manager checks and ensure agreed actions are completed, role model to colleagues, ensure that daily, weekly, monthly checks are carried out, trips completed and safe, room is clean and tidy, meals are served appropriately, administering medicine, always ensure general cleanliness of children.* To have a sound knowledge of the policies and procedures.* To liaise with the Nursery Health and Safety Co-ordinator as required.* To be responsible as required for opening and closing the Nursery at the beginning and end of day.*Early Years Foundation Stage** To use the EY Log to maintain learning journeys, next steps and observations and to regularly monitor all children’s learning journeys.* To support children with settling and transitions, manage children’s behaviour, support children with SEND where appropriate.* To ensure that the environment is stimulating and appropriate including layout, display of resources, displays, equal opportunities.* To ensure that the observation, assessment and planning cycle is effective for all children and all staff have a full understanding of their roles and responsibilities in relation to this.* To complete reflections on the continuous provision.* To have a sound understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage including the Characteristics of Effective Learning and support the team in delivering this within the room.*Key Person role** To have responsibility for working with a small number of children giving them the reassurance to feel safe and cared for during their time in your room and when making transitions to new experiences.* To maintain accurate records of the child’s development and use information learnt, to support future planning, development and learning.* To work in partnership with parents to build positive relationships with effective communication, so that together the needs of the child are always met and parents have an involvement in the child’s learning journey.* To work with other professionals and be able to describe what you know about your key children, including their culture, first language, current development and next stages of development, and what activities you have put in place to support this development.* To identify any gaps in the child’s learning and development and liaise with the SENCo to ensure children with additional needs are supported and can reach their goal.*Parents** To actively encourage and oversee Parent Partnership within the room.* To be a key point of contact for Parents and signpost/escalate to Nursery Management as appropriate.* To plan and organise parent consultation meetings, ensuring that all parents are provided with an opportunity to attend.*Community** To encourage relationships with local community groups and organise planned outings.*CPD** To keep up to date with current practice – courses, conferences, reading relevant magazines and books.* To attend monthly staff meetings.* To develop leadership and management knowledge and qualifications, in particular.*Staff Development** To ensure staff are motivated, trained and mentored as per their individual needs and preferences as well as the room’s needs. Appropriate deployment of staffing throughout, support in disciplinary procedures, when necessary, deliver equal opportunities, contributes to staff meetings, celebrations of good practice and team building.* In absence of the Manager and Deputy Managers, step up to management level when advised, taking on all necessary responsibilities.* To ensure policies and procedures are followed by all staff and that appropriate boundaries and discipline are applied.* To encourage team building activities.* To accept and engage with fundamental British values of democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty and mutual respect and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs.*Skills and Qualifications** Committed to the safeguarding and protection of children.* Good understanding of Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework.* To value and respect the views and needs of children.* Hold a minimum Level 3 in Early Years Education or equivalent in Early Years plus willingness to develop further Leadership & Management skills through ongoing CPD.* Experience of working with children 0 – 5 years.* Experience/knowledge of Children’s Act and OFSTED requirements.* Strong IT skills including use of tablets.* Excellent communication skills.* Committed to continuous personal and professional development.* Resilient and demonstrates the ability to work well under pressure.* Can manage time effectively.*Desirable Criteria** Supervisory/room management experience.* Paediatric First Aid Certificate renewable every 3 years.* Knowledge of Health & Safety legislation.* Hold a Food Hygiene certificate.*Application Procedure:*Applications should be made using the application form.
