3rd Line Messaging Application Engineer - Perm
1. Location: Basingstoke, 5 days on-site

A primary technical partner of the MOD are looking to add to their Infrastructure Messaging team, the role involves solving technical challenges and the on-going support of critical systems, whilst collaborating with wider teams in supporting the mission of keeping UK Defence agile and safe.
Your role will involve:
5. Incident management - Incident logging, triage and assignment on required toolsets. Manage the Incident to resolution. Keep the incident record updated in accordance with agreed WI. Escalate where necessary.
6. Problem management - Perform detailed and extensive investigations on any ongoing Problem Records. Collate data from various sources and provide expert analysis.
7. Monitor, investigate and fix any problems with the Nexor X DSA.
8. Monitor, investigate and fix any problems with the Exchange Messaging system.
9. Communicate and collaborate with the customer who is an intermediary to the end user
Your transferable skills and experience:
10. Knowledge of Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP)
11. Knowledge of X messaging
12. Knowledge of Nexor DSA
13. Knowledge of X addressing and address book replication
14. Knowledge and Experience of UNIX Scripting
15. Experience of Interoperable C4I Services (ICS)
16. Experience of Oracle 8-10g
17. Experience of Solaris 10
18. Experience of UNIX/HPUX
19. Desirable -or willing to learn - Microsoft Exchange
20. Desirable - or willing to learn - Microsoft Server
21. Desirable - or willing to learn - Active Directory
22. Desirable - or willing to learn - VMWare V5/V5.5
23. Desirable - or willing to learn - ITIL

Expected working
Our hours of support are Monday to Friday 08:00 - 18:00 per week to cover 37 hours. This could be on an early or late start, rotated as directed by line manager.
