Overview
Applications are invited for a 12‑month locum consultant post in Anaesthesia at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital (RNOH). The successful applicant will develop a programme of Direct Clinical Care (DCC) and Supporting Professional Activities (SPA) in partnership with the department.
Responsibilities
* Provide anaesthetic care for specialist orthopaedic and complex spinal deformity surgery.
* Participate in elective operating lists, pre‑assessment clinics, on‑call commitments and scheduled SPA activities.
* Engage in departmental governance, MDT meetings and continuous professional development.
* Contribute to clinical audit, teaching, research and managerial duties as agreed.
Person Specification – Qualifications
* FRCA or GMC recognized equivalent qualification.
* CCT in Anaesthesia or equivalent training.
* Entry on GMC Specialist Registrar with CCT in anaesthesia or within 6 months of CCT at interview.
* ALS & APLS/EPLS competence.
* Full GMC registration.
Person Specification – Experience
* Experience in anaesthesia for specialist orthopaedic surgery.
* Experience in anaesthesia for complex spinal deformity surgery.
* Experience in Intensive Care.
Person Specification – Skills
* Track record of establishing and maintaining good working relationships.
* Excellent verbal and written communication.
* Competence in all aspects of anaesthetic skills.
* Computer literacy/IT skills.
Person Specification – Management & Leadership
* Understanding of NHS management structure.
* AUDIT experience.

* Evidence of interest in teaching and training.
