The Workshop Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the regional workshop, delivering repairs and refurbishment to process critical equipment, travelling to sites and customer visits.
What you'll do
Based in the workshop, you will be organising the day to day operation, assisted by a technical administrator and a pump service manager, you will be assisting with analysis of the causes of the breakdowns and making proposals for improvements to a wide range of assets, but mainly inlet screens, compactors and filter columns.
The factory is predominantly manual strip down refurbishment, reassembly, and testing, with some manual machines.
You will be managing 12 people in the workshop, roles ranging from apprentices, shop floor technicians and logistics.

Responsibilities:
* deliver a first-class safety approach to work
* leadership of workshop staff
* planning workflow and prioritisation of work
* dealing with short turnaround breakdown work
* liaise with the team and customers
* understand assets and our design standards to provide the best possible service to the customer
* plan our cyclic maintenance investment programs, for example, screen refurbishments, with stakeholders
* grow the workshop business, seeking new product lines across the whole of our region
* analyse data to review system performance, leading to robust engineering solutions for every repair
* weekly/monthly reporting to customers on job progress and cost
* site visits to review equipment issues and propose mechanical intervention
* feedback data to the asset database for quality improvements of corporate data
* increase in-house machining capability.
What you'll need
We would be interested in talking to candidates from a General Manager, Production andManufacturing background.
* Level 3 NVQ or an apprenticeship in Mechanical Engineering/Maintenance (optional but preferred).
* HNC/HND in Mechanical Engineering (optional but preferred).
* Experience within the water industry is preferred, but not essential.
* Experience with problem solving and root cause analysis.
* A positive attitude and the desire to grow individually and as a team member.
* Competent with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
