Wellcome’s strategy centres on programmes that enable the funding of research, advocating for change and engaging people. Under the current strategy, Wellcome has identified three urgent health challenges facing everyone – Climate and Health, Infectious Diseases, and Mental Health – which need a solutions focussed approach. It is also deeply committed to funding and supporting open-ended, curiosity‑driven discovery research that generates new knowledge, insights and understanding about life, health and wellbeing.
Reporting directly into the CEO, the Chief Strategy Officer will be a member of the Executive Committee and will lead the development and delivery of Wellcome’s strategy, identifying objectives based on strategic analysis, external insight, and driving measurable impact to align activity across strategic programmes and departments.
The successful candidate will shape, evolve, and monitor Wellcome’s strategy, through effective partnership with the wider Executive Committee to drive integration, ensuring Wellcome’s portfolio of programmes are consistent, coherent and positioned to maximise our impact in science and health.
Responsibilities
* Lead the development and delivery of Wellcome’s strategy
* Identify strategic objectives based on analysis and external insight
* Drive measurable impact and align activity across programmes and departments
* Shape, evolve, and monitor strategy in partnership with the Executive Committee
* Ensure consistency, coherence and impact of Wellcome’s portfolio of programmes
Upon a conditional offer, the successful applicant will be required to undertake a Basic Disclosure and Barring Service (or equivalent) criminal record check to disclose any unspent convictions or conditional cautions.
Hybrid Working
We have a hybrid way of working: 3 days in our Euston Road offices (Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday) with the remaining 2 days working either remotely or in the office.
