Small works manager
£50,000 - £60,000 a year

Offer description

From the tools to the top! Future Head of the Small Works Division? Not the finished article? Good. That's exactly who we want We're after an Assistant Site Manager (or Site Manager) who can read a drawing like a map, coordinate trades like a conductor with a band of slightly opinionated musicians, and still put down a broom without sighing. If you've ever looked at a set of plans and thought: Scaffold here, tin hat for winter, plumbers week three, sparkies week five… - congratulations. You're already fluent in their dialect. But there are a few more boxes to tick. Who you are: • Come up through the tools and earned your stripes - like a well-worn hammer with a story to tell. • Had a taste of management but still mucks in (within the heritage and restoration sector) • Can talk to subbies, clients, and Architects - and knows they're three very different dialects of the same language. • Takes pride in quality work - because half measures and bodges are like a scaffold with one loose bolt: you might get away with it, but not for long. • Has realistic expectations, ambition, and isn't allergic to hard graft. This isn't just a job; it's a career where your work actually means something. What you'll be doing: • Working on heritage and high-end restoration projects across London - buildings with quirks, character, and enough odd corners to make a cat feel at home. • Reading drawings, calling off materials, and planning logistics like a chess grandmaster with a hammer. • Coordinating trades - from sparkies to plumbers - without anyone muttering, Who's actually in charge here? • Keeping projects on track, safe, and done properly - because the only thing worse than a bodge is a repeat visit from one. • Learning the ropes of heritage delivery, from floors to roofs to intricate joinery, with enough attention to detail to make a perfectionist weep quietly into their tea. Why this role is exciting: • You're not just supervising - you'll be learning how to discuss, price and deliver small works projects across London. Building a skillset. • There's real progression: prove yourself and you could run the Small Works Division. Think of it as going from foreman to head honcho of your own little empire - without the crown. • You'll work with a team that values craft, pride, and doing things properly - not just ticking boxes or polishing reports. • We're not after polished suits or serial wanderers who change sites like socks. We want someone who'll put down roots, learn, and grow with the business. We're not looking for perfect. We're looking for potential - with calloused hands, good sense, and a bit of pride. So, want to keep doing what you're doing for the next 30yrs or make a change? Discreet chats welcome: Spencer Wade (phone number removed) (url removed)
