About the Role
As an Approved Electrician/Wireman, you will be involved in the installation, testing of HV systems on a substation project. You'll work to strict safety and quality standards, supporting the successful and compliant delivery of key project milestones.
Key Responsibilities
* Installing and maintaining HV distribution systems, SCADA, signalling and control equipment
* Installing containment: tray, trunking, conduit, ladder rack
* Small wiring and multi‑core cabling
* Fault‑finding, diagnostics, and electrical testing
* Completing installation paperwork, test sheets, and daily logs
* Interpreting drawings, wiring diagrams, and technical specifications
* Safe operation and upkeep of HV tools and testing equipment
* Working effectively with engineers, supervisors, and wider project teams
Requirements
* JIB Approved Electrician status (2391 essential)
* 18th Edition – BS 7671
* Previous experience working on HV substations
* Strong understanding of HV safety and industry regulations
* Ability to read and interpret electrical diagrams and technical drawings
* Proven experience with testing and inspection
