Responsibilities
* Provide specialist musculoskeletal physiotherapy treatment to outpatients as part of the overall therapy provision.
* Manage your own caseload with thorough clinical assessment, treatment planning and appropriate discharge from the service; adapt practice to the needs of the patient.
* Provide clinical supervision and appraisal to junior staff, therapy assistants and students.
* Deliver specialist outpatient physiotherapy to patients with a wide range of acute and long-term conditions.
* Participate in ongoing service evaluation and development.
Qualifications and Experience
* Essential
o Substantial postgraduate experience in relevant MSK outpatient and orthopedic clinical settings
o Appropriate post-registration experience
o Documented evidence of CPD, in accordance with HCPC recommendations
o Experience of working as part of uni-professional and multi-professional teams
o Advice, supervision, appraisal, training and support to more junior staff, support staff and students
* Desirable
o Experience of audit/research
o Experience of sole working as part of an out-of-hours emergency weekend service
Skills
* Good knowledge of current best practice in physiotherapy in the relevant setting
* Specialist clinical skills in musculoskeletal outpatients
* Understanding and application of risk management
* Understand legal responsibilities of the profession and the associated code of ethics
* Ability to organise and prioritise own and junior staff workload and supervise support staff in this field
* Ability to work autonomously and set priorities
* Demonstrate understanding and participation in activity to support clinical governance
* In-depth knowledge of national policies and procedures relevant to the client group
* After induction, able to work on the orthopaedic weekend rota
* Flexibility and reliability
Knowledge / Qualifications
* Essential Diploma/Degree in Physiotherapy
* Member of the Health and Care Professions Council
* Desirable Member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy

* Supervisory & appraisal skills of other staff including junior staff / support staff / students
* Ability to pass on knowledge and deliver training both internally and externally
* Committed to lifelong and self-directed learning
* Active participation as an appraiser to the Trust IPR system after induction
* Commitment to personal and team development
* Ability to present information clearly, both orally and in writing
* Keep accurate and legible patient notes
* Ability to cope with busy or stressful environments and with emotional or aggressive patients/carers
* Able to perform moderate to intense physical effort and manage concurrent activities
* Commitment to non-discriminatory practice
* Understanding and compliance with data protection requirements

* Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check is required
* UK registration with current professional status required
