Offer description

Priory Glasgow is looking to recruit a Visiting Consultant Psychiatry to join the team. This is a self‑employed role. Priory Hospital Glasgow is a leading provider in Mental Health treatments, Addiction services and Eating Disorders. We pride ourselves on delivering exceptional patient care through our comprehensive inpatient and outpatient services, supported by our quality facilities and a team committed to excellence.

What you’ll be doing

You will be part of a compassionate team who are committed to our patients’ wellbeing. We take a personalised approach, using proven therapies to help people move forward with confidence and build a healthier, more fulfilling future. As Visiting Consultant, you will play a key part in their recovery, assisting qualified staff with the assessment and implementation of individual patient care plans, undertaking routine tasks and activities as directed or delegated to facilitate wellbeing, dignity and treatment of patients.

* Assess and treat a varied outpatient and inpatient caseload within your specialty.
* Collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team to deliver high‑quality, patient‑centred care.
* Contribute to clinical governance, service improvement, and audit activities.
* Grow your private practice in line with Priory Hospital Glasgow’s outstanding reputation.
* Maintain professional development and meet Revalidation or accreditation requirements.

You can find additional information in the attached job description.

What you’ll bring to the role

Our work is rewarding but can be challenging, so resilience is key. No two days are the same! Your natural empathy will help you support others through both the highs and lows.

The successful candidate will be fully registered with the GMC and expected to provide evidence of their registration when required. You should have significant experience working within multidisciplinary teams and demonstrate strong leadership in coordinating care, discharge planning, and liaising with commissioners. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential for building trust with patients and colleagues. You must be confident working autonomously, have strong problem‑solving abilities, and be able to apply evidence‑based practice in a practical, patient‑centred manner. Participation in a non‑residential, second on‑call rota is also required.

For more information about the role, you can email Angelascott@priorygroup.com.

What we will give you in return

* Clinical freedom – You control your caseload, hours, and treatment plans.
* Team connection – Work independently, with full clinical governance and peer support.
* Steady patient flow – Referrals come via our national brand, GP networks, and online presence.
* Admin taken care of – We handle bookings, billing and secretarial support.
* Established reputation – Be part of a brand trusted by patients, insurers and clinicians for 30+ years.
* Quality facilities – Work from fully equipped, CQC‑registered hospitals and outpatient clinics.
* Flexible commitment – Choose your sessions and work around your lifestyle.
* Inpatient access if needed – Direct pathways into Priory services when required.

Shortlisting may begin upon receipt of applications, and the Recruiting Manager may close the vacancy early if enough suitable candidates are identified. In such cases, adverts should be closed immediately, and remaining applicants informed of the reason.
