ADHD Support Assistant – Birkenhead

We are recruiting on behalf of a welcoming and inclusive school in Birkenhead, seeking to appoint a committed ADHD Support Assistant. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone with experience supporting children with ADHD or similar needs, who is passionate about helping pupils thrive in a structured and supportive learning environment.
About the Role
The successful candidate will provide tailored support to pupils with ADHD, working closely with class teachers, the SENCO, and other professionals to implement effective strategies that promote focus, emotional regulation, and academic progress. The role may involve one-to-one or small group work, both within the classroom and in withdrawal sessions where appropriate.
Key Responsibilities
* Support pupils with ADHD to access the curriculum and manage attention and behaviour
* Assist in delivering Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and individual learning plans
* Contribute to a positive and inclusive classroom environment
* Encourage the development of social, emotional, and behavioural skills
* Monitor pupil progress and provide regular feedback to staff and parents/carers
Person Specification
* Experience working with children or young people with ADHD or related needs (school or alternative settings)
* A calm, empathetic, and consistent approach to behaviour management
* Good understanding of neurodiversity and inclusive practices
* Strong communication skills and ability to work as part of a team
* Relevant qualifications (e.g. Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant, SEN training) are desirable but not essential

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
