The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering neonatal psychological services across Coventry and Warwickshire, working closely with staff in neonatal units and other local services to provide specialist assessment, therapy, and consultation for parents, families, and staff.
Responsibilities
* Provide highly specialist psychological assessments and therapy for parents of infants in neonatal units.
* Deliver evidence‑based psychological interventions to promote adaptation and adjustment for families and carers.
* Use structured observations, interviews and self‑report measures to assess parents and families, re‑assess when appropriate and report findings to multidisciplinary teams.
* Work as an independent professional within BPS and HCPC guidelines, taking full responsibility for own work.
* Contribute to multidisciplinary teams, providing insight, advice, consultation and supervision to other professionals.
* Provide staff support, including trauma‑sensitive debriefs and psychological frameworks for understanding.
* Conduct risk assessments and give advice on psychological aspects of risk management.
* Participate in service development, audit, research and clinical governance initiatives to improve service outcomes.
Requirements
* Registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and compliant with BPS standards.
* Experience in neonatal psychology, with strong assessment and therapeutic skills.
* Ability to work autonomously within professional guidelines and to prioritise workload effectively.
* Excellent communication skills and experience of delivering reports to multidisciplinary teams.
* Willingness to provide an immunisation and vaccination report and to comply with DBS requirements.
