Family Support Coordinator

Do you have experience supporting families in a health or social care setting? Are you confident working with babies, children, and young people with complex or palliative care needs? If so, you could be the person we're looking for.


Main duties of the job

We're expanding our Family Support team and have a new opportunity for a Family Support Coordinator. In this vital role, youll help families access a wide range of universal support services and activities offered by Rainbows.Location: Rainbows Hospice, Loughborough (with occasional travel across the East Midlands)Hours: Monday to Friday, 9am5pm (with occasional evening and weekend work for events)

Here at Rainbows Childrens Hospice, we provide specialist palliative care and end-of-life support to over 750 Babies, Children, and Young People living with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions, as well as approximately 3,000 people, including families, siblings, and carers, across the East Midlands. Simply put, were here to brighten short lives and support families, wherever they are.


Job responsibilities

Person Specification


Experience

* Experience in a health and social care setting working with families
* Experience with babies, children and young people with palliative care or complex needs
* Ability to manage conversations on the telephone including at times from distressed/upset parents/carers
* Experience working in a multidisciplinary team
* Experience of working independently without supervision
* Ability to organise and conduct own workload in a professional timely manner
* Understanding of safeguarding children and vulnerable adults
* Understanding of the roles of other services and professionals who may be involved with a family
* Basic IT Skills
* Treats all babies, children, young people and families with dignity, respect and understanding
* Ability to set and maintain professional boundaries with staff, children/young people, parents and visitors
* Positive attitude towards change
* Ability to recognise stress in oneself and others and to manage it effectively
* Demonstrates motivation and commitment towards personal and professional development
* Ability to use own initiative
* Able to work Saturday or Sunday as required
