Description SEN Casework Officer Ref: CH11125 Grade: G7; £35,412 £38,220 We are seeking a passionate and dedicated SEN Casework Officer to join our EHC Team. In this role, you will play a vital part in supporting children and young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN), ensuring they have the necessary resources and support to thrive. As a SEN Casework Officer, you will work closely with families, schools, and professionals to navigate the statutory annual review process and manage Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs). Must have experience working with children and young people with special educational needs and a key understanding of the statutory legislation aligning to the EHCP process. Responsibilities Support families, schools, and professionals through the annual review process, ensuring a smooth and inclusive experience. Manage a caseload of EHCPs, collaborating with multi-agency teams to provide high-quality, tailored support. Champion the voices of children and young people with SEN, ensuring their needs and aspirations are at the forefront of decision-making. Promote fairness, inclusion, and ethical practices in all interactions with children, families, and stakeholders. Actively listen to and engage with all parties involved, fostering a collaborative and transparent environment. Strive for excellence in all aspects of your work, maintaining the highest standards of professionalism and integrity. Stay updated with the SEND Code of Practice and relevant legislation, ensuring compliance in all casework. Collaborate effectively with the multi-agency team, building strong relationships and ensuring a cohesive approach to support. Engage in continuous professional development, attending training and guidance sessions to enhance your skills and knowledge. Qualifications Experience working with young people, children, and families is essential, demonstrating a strong understanding of their needs and challenges. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage and build rapport with a diverse range of stakeholders. A solution-focused mindset, approaching challenges with creativity and a commitment to finding effective solutions. A strong commitment to equality and inclusion, promoting an environment that values diversity and ensures equal opportunities. A resilient and dynamic attitude, able to navigate complex situations and work effectively in a fast-paced, multi-agency environment. A passion for improving the lives of children and young people with SEN, with a genuine desire to make a positive impact. A willingness to learn and adapt, embracing new ideas and approaches to enhance the support provided. Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and a caseload effectively. A basic understanding of the SEND Code of Practice and relevant legislation is preferred but not essential, as training will be provided. A positive and collaborative attitude, with a track record of successful teamwork and a willingness to contribute to a supportive team culture.
