An opportunity has arisen within the Finance Directorate for a Directorate Support Officer. This is a diverse and interesting role, providing a range of administrative support across a range of teams and activities. This will include in-box and diary management, co-ordinating information requests, data entry and minute taking.
We are looking for someone with the transferrable skills, knowledge, and experience to deliver excellent outcomes within the public sector.
You will be passionate about high level support, with first class organisational skills, and love working in a fast paced environment with lots of variety. You will be flexible in your approach, have excellent communication skills and experienced in workload prioritisation. You will be capable of foreseeing and dealing with deadlines. Ideally you will have experience of remote meeting technology (such as Microsoft Teams and Zoom).

Skills
Essential:
* A methodical and flexible approach to work, with the ability to: responding appropriately to conflicting demands, changing priorities and challenging deadlines; work effectively across the diverse services and business units within the Directorate; assimilate new ideas and procedures quickly and effectively; work effectively both independently and as a team member; plan ahead and manage own workload.
* Excellent organisational skills, a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
* Ability to carry out general administrative tasks, including: organising and accurately recording meetings; using internet browsers and undertaking internet research; setting up and managing computer files and folders; data entry.
* Effective communication and interpersonal skills across all tiers of the Council, its wholly owned companies and external organisations and the ability to act with tact, diplomacy and sensitivity in all situations.
Knowledge
Essential:
* Advanced knowledge and understanding required to effectively use Microsoft Office applications, including Teams, Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook.
* Advanced knowledge of standard office administrative practices and procedures, including production of minutes, notes and actions, reports, letters, presentations, travel arrangements and organisation of meetings and events.
Experience & Qualifications
Essential:
* Experience of providing a wide range of administrative support, to a high standard, across a multi-functional team.
* Experience of efficiently managing a diverse workload and responding effectively to conflicting deadlines, changing needs and priorities.
* Experience of producing accurate reports, letters, spreadsheets, presentations and other electronic documents.
* Experience of organising and supporting meetings and events, including compiling agendas and taking accurate minutes or actions.
* Experience of undertaking research and analysing information.
