Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic cook / Kitchen Assistant to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in supporting the kitchen staff with meal and food preparation, ensuring that all food safety standards are met. This position is perfect for individuals looking to gain experience in a restaurant or culinary environment while contributing to the smooth operation of our kitchen.
Responsibilities
* Assist in meal preparation by chopping, slicing, and preparing ingredients as directed by the cook.
* Support food preparation tasks including cooking, baking, and assembling dishes under the guidance of experienced cooks.
* Maintain high standards of food safety and hygiene throughout the kitchen, ensuring compliance with health regulations.
* Help in the cleaning and organisation of kitchen equipment and utensils after use to maintain a tidy work environment.
* Collaborate with team members to ensure timely service during busy periods, demonstrating effective communication skills.
* Participate in inventory management by assisting with stock rotation and reporting any shortages or discrepancies.
Qualifications
* Previous experience in a restaurant or kitchen environment is advantageous but not essential; a willingness to learn is key.
* Basic knowledge of food safety practices and culinary techniques is preferred.
* Strong organisational skills with the ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment.
* A passion for cooking and an eagerness to develop culinary skills further.
* Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team while also being self-motivated when required.
