About your role

As a shift based operational leader, this role is accountable for the performance of their production lines and team across the balanced scorecard of Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, Sustainability and People Development. The role ensures consistent shift by shift performance, alignment with business goals, and a strong focus on continuous improvement.

The Area Shift Manager is expected to spend 80% of their time in the operational area (line side), proactively driving performance, supporting their team, and resolving issues in real time. The Area Shift Manager reports directly to the Area Manufacturing Manager at the Suntory Coleford Manufacturing Site

What you’ll do

Champion a Zero Harm culture by promoting safe working practices and ensuring full compliance with all health & safety regulations across the shift.

Uphold quality standards by following Good Manufacturing Practice, hygiene requirements, and all quality systems and procedures.

Ensure all line‑side quality checks are completed accurately for finished products, components, and syrups; coach the team to maintain high standards. Maintain compliance with internal and external audit requirements through accurate documentation, procedural adherence, and consistent shift readiness.

Lead the shift team to deliver the weekly production plan within agreed resources, budget, and timelines. Maximise line performance by reducing losses and improving Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE). Conduct hourly checks on actual vs planned volume and ensure data accuracy to support proactive decisions.

Build a flexible, capable workforce by developing skills and enabling multi‑skilled working across the shift. Coach team members in continuous improvement tools and techniques to strengthen problem solving and daily performance routines.

Minimise losses from changeovers, material loading, and unnecessary stoppages. Improve sustainability through waste reduction across syrup and packaging materials.

What you need to be successful

HNC, B-Tec, other technical or vocational qualifications.

Knowledge of Continuous Improvement principles Green Belt Lean Six Sigma

Solid experiences in FMCG shift operations ideally Manufacturing / Beverage Industry

Management skill & knowledge of the relevant industry sector is a plus
