Reporting to Senior Legal Counsel
We are looking for an experienced, talented and highly motivated lawyer to support our rapidly growing and evolving businesses.
This opportunity will give you exposure to a wide range of work across a number of different jurisdictions, with a primary focus on the Channel Islands and the UK.
Key responsibilities
1. Prepare and negotiate the businesses’ engagement terms of business with external clients and their lawyers
2. Provide pro-active, professional, competent, effective and creative legal advice to the business in the areas of financial services regulation
3. Work closely with other members of the Legal Team
4. Oversee the work of the Junior Legal Counsel
5. Collaborate with internal business teams and support functions such as Compliance and Risk
6. Prepare and negotiate the businesses’ engagement terms of business with external clients and their lawyers
7. Represent the Group in commercial contract negotiations with third party suppliers
Skills, knowledge and expertise
8. Bachelor's degree in Law
9. Admitted as a solicitor
10. 3-6 years post-qualification experience
11. Legal experience in financial services regulation and alternative investment funds
12. Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment – ability to deliver with demanding deadlines
13. Ability to work independently and as part of a team when required
14. Negotiation and drafting skills as well as a commercial mindset
15. Ability to articulate clear business advice with a commercial focus and with high quality written and verbal communication
16. Strong attention to detail
17. Capable of identifying, focusing and prioritising key issues with an ability to adapt quickly to changing circumstances
18. Can-do attitude
19. Good interpersonal skills
20. Strong IT skills (especially Microsoft Word and Excel)
21. Legal experience in a top tier law firm with international clients is desirable
