Apprentice Highway Design Engineer
Location: Gateshead
Are you looking to begin your career in civil engineering with a consultancy that will support your development from day one?
This role offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands‑on experience on live infrastructure and development projects while building a long‑term career within highways design.
Responsibilities
* Assisting with highway and infrastructure design work
* Supporting technical drawings using AutoCAD and Civil 3D
* Learning Section 278 and Section 38 highway design standards
* Assisting with drainage, junction and access designs
* Supporting reports, calculations and technical documentation
* Liaising with colleagues, local authorities and external consultants
* Developing knowledge of highways standards and project delivery
Qualifications
* A genuine interest in highways, infrastructure or civil engineering
* Strong communication and organisational skills
* A proactive attitude and willingness to learn
* Good IT skills and attention to detail
* GCSEs including Maths and English
* Any exposure to AutoCAD or engineering software would be beneficial
